Environmental politics
Seppo Laine Oy offers their domestic and foreign clients expert services in the field of industrial property. Since a durable development depends on the positive interaction between the economical development and environmental protection, we aim at producing our service in a cost-efficient and customer-oriented way by simultaneously reducing the harmful environmental effects of our business.
On the basis of these principles
- We follow, in all our business, valid environmental regulations and legislations.
- We have established an approved environmental program based on the Green Office principles of WWF Finland.
- Based on our environmental program, we have set goals to improve the level of our environmental protection and decrease the harmful environmental effects of our business and our services.
- We educate our staff in environmental issues and implement waste recycling programs to decrease the consumption of natural resources.
- We promote the use of technical solutions related to electronic services improving efficiency, bringing savings in time and expenses to our clients as well as decreasing the environmental effects of the business and the services.
- Telephone and video conferences are favoured in order to avoid unnecessary travelling and measures to decrease the consumption of office supplies, water and energy are being taken.
- Our goal is also to decrease the harmful environmental effects of our purchased products and services.
- Above all, we aim at promoting electronic services between our company and foreign colleague agencies.
- We give information about the most significant environmental effects of our business and our service.
Green Office
In the autumn of 2007 a new project was started at Seppo Laine Oy. We decided to join the Green Office environmental system developed by the WWF, the goal of which is to encourage companies to reduce their burden on the environment. This system is useful for patent agencies, as the traditional consumption of paper and electricity along with the increasing use of electrical data processing systems is high in the field. That is, the conditions for reducing consumption existed.
Since implementing the system we were able to significantly reduce our consumption of paper, electricity and conventional post services, e.g., by improving the environmental awareness of our staff and by providing electrical apparatuses with the necessary equipment to eliminate “ghost electricity”. On January 13, 2009, an inspection was carried out in our office, and we were awarded the Green Office diploma by the WWF.
The Green Office system has proven to be of great benefit not only for the environment, but also for our organization. We have been able to make our office more effective and simultaneously eliminate unnecessary work and costs.
